Tascam DP02 Digital Recorder

Tascam has just introduced two new digital multitrack recorders, the DP02 and the DP02CF. They are both 8-track digital recorders that make recording fun, ditching menus for simple knobs and faders. Based on over 25 years of cassette Portastudios, these new multitracks have dedicated controls for level, pan, effects send and EQ instead of the menu-cursor interface found on most other recorders. You make music with two hands with the DP-02 - just reach and twist a knob when your creativity strikes.

Powered Mixers - Yamaha, Peavey, Mackie

Powered mixers came of age back in the late seventies when Yamaha introduced the EM series mixers: EM80, EM100, and EM150. Up until that time, a powered mixer could be heavy and less than dependable, but the Yamaha EM series set the benchmark at that time. They were light in weight, powerful, and as history proved, dependable.

The tradition set by these audio mixers is carried on today by the EMX series of Yamaha powered mixers. They include the EMX5016CF, EMX5014C, EMX212S, EMS312SC, and the EMX512SC. These new Yamaha EMX powered mixers live up to - and exceed - the reputation set by their ancestors. They're built to the same standards of sonic performance and rugged reliability that make Yamaha the first choice for live sound applications from schools to stadiums around the globe.

PA Systems

The PA Systems available today are a far cry from what was available when the hippies roamed the earth - somewhere back in the '60's. In the late sixties our band used two metal, vertical columns that looked like heaters. Whenever a band member brought a guest to rehearsal, they invariably backed up to our PA speakers expecting to warm themselves! What a hoot.

Today's speakers, for one thing, don't look like heaters; they look like speakers, and Portable PA systems start at a very affordable $549 for the Yamaha StagePas 300. If your budget is bigger, you can get the Fender Passport PD-250 for $699.95, or the Yamaha StagePas 500 for $999.00. All it takes is money, right?

Edirol R09 Wav MP3 Recorder

The Edrol R09 is more affordable than its predecessor, the R-1. One reason the R-1 carries a heavier price tag is because of its well-stocked lineup of internal effects. The R09 isn’t devoid of effects, however. It contains the world’s most-requested/desired effect: reverb. Whether you’re listening to WAV or MP3 files, you can route the R09’s playback through its internal reverb processor, immersing it in lush, user-controllable ambience.

Edirol R09 Wav MP3 Recorder

The Edirol R09 is a serious, top-quality professional recorder; it’s ultra small and looks like a gadget, but make no mistake, it performs. The R09 can capture source material at a crystal-clear 24-bit resolution with your choice of 44.1 or 48kHz sample rates. You can record and play back in MP3 format too (up to 320kbps). Once recorded, your files can be monitored through the R09’s headphone jack and/or exported to a computer via USB.

Powered Mixers - New Yamaha EMX Powered Mixers

Yamaha EMX powered mixers come from a long legacy of powered mixers dating back to 1975. The first three Yamaha mixers to enter the portable sound market were the EM150, EM100, and the EM80. They were stereo mixers with reverb, and their power was 150 watts, 100 watts and 80 watts respectively. Because of their quality build and affordable price, they were big sellers to people building PA systems on a budget. In fact, we still see one occasionally in our shop for maintenance. Over thirty years old and still going - that's amazing!

The new Yamaha EMX powered mixers carry on the tradition that began in 1975, except with updated features, circuitry, and lower weight. The Yamaha EMX312SC powered mixer features dual 300 watt power amps and the added advantage of one-knob compression on mono channels. The EMX312SC mixer is built to the same standards of sonic performance and rugged reliability that make Yamaha the first choice for live sound applications. The EMX powered mixers are lightweight, only 22lbs. and feature conveniently located handles for maximum carrying comfort. They're also built tough to withstand the rigors of use on the road.

The Yamaha EMX212S is the most affordable model in the EMX powered mixer series. It offers a pair of 200-watt amplifiers per channel that should be more than sufficient for small-to-medium size venues. The EMX212S has the same features as the EMX312SC, except it has less powerful amplifiers and no built-in compressors.

The Yamaha EMX512SC powered mixer is the most powerful of the EMX box mixers, and features a pair of 500-watt amplifiers to ensure that your music or message comes across with full impact, even in large venues. The EMX512SC offers a total of 12 input channels – four for monaural microphone or line input, plus four pairs that can function either as monaural microphone inputs or stereo line inputs – providing you with a versatile mix of input capabilities for a wide range of applications. If you need only microphone inputs you can use up to eight mic channels.

Sound systems large and small can be created using the Yamaha EMX powered mixers. These audio mixers have earned their excellent reputation and will remain the choice of musicians, both professional and amateur, wanting to build a quality sound system on a limited budget.
